3 SUMMER CAMP SITES

MD / DC Camp Site - Tifereth Israel Synagogue - 7701 16th Street, NW, Washington DC 20012 (near Silver Spring, MD)

Tuition rates

1 - 3 weeks - $235/week

4 - 7 weeks - $225/week

8 - 10 weeks - $199/week

HOURS

Before care: 7:30am-9:00am

Camp day: 9:00am – 3:00pm

After care: 3:00pm-6:00pm

7:30am-9:00am - Parents must sign in when dropping off their child.

3:00pm – Children should be picked up in main room and signed-out at this time.

3:00pm-6:00pm – After care begins.  Students must be registered for after care online or parents can pay by calling into the main office at 301-938-2711 if after care is needed unexpectedly due to traffic or other unforeseen circumstances.  Students who register before March 31st receive free before and after care and **MUST** sign up online for the service.

 

 

What should I bring to camp each day?

Water Bottle - please label your water bottle
*make sure to drink plenty of water at home before arriving at camp & make sure to drink plenty of water at home in the evening after camp to stay hydrated*

Sunscreen

Sun glasses

Lunch (please keep in mind that the MD / DC camp site building where we host camp observes Kosher rules and has asked that we not bring meats, pork, or shellfish)

Hat

Comfortable walking shoes

Karate Gear – uniform and sparring gear (yellow belt and up)

Swim suit, towel, and other pool items

Nutritious Snack(s) – 1 for before lunch / 1 for after care

(Camp does not provide snack due to potential food allergies that are common amongst campers)

 

What should I wear to camp each day?

Everyday campers should to come dressed in shorts, t-shirt & sneakers (especially if the weather is very hot). No flip flops or open-toed shoes!  Flip-flops or sandals are permitted during pool time.

Everyday campers will need to bring their uniform pants, t-shirt, belt & any other items needed for there karate classes.  Students who are new to karate will have the option of ordering a uniform and sparring gear if desired.

PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS WITH STUDENTS FULL NAME.

 

What NOT to bring to camp each day?

Weapons - pocket knives, swords or other martial arts weapons

Large amount of money - we ask that campers limit the amount of money they carry to a minimum

Video games – or other hand held devices

IPods – no mp3 players of any kind are allowed

 

Drop-off / Pick-up

All parents will sign-in and sign-out their child daily. Children do not have to be signed in if they are dropped off with the greeter.  At pick-up, all parents must sign-out their children.

If someone other than the parent will be picking-up their child we must be notified in advance by email or in writing, otherwise, we will not let the child go until a parent is contacted.  Please email our office at coach.v@kaizenkaratemd.comwith at least 24hrs notice of any pick-up changes.

Walkers and bikers must have written permission from their parents before we will let them leave.

 

Daily Schedule:

For full day campers doors open at 9:00am – campers should be picked up at 3:00pm

Before care starts at 7:30am and ends at 9:00am.  After care starts at 3:00pm and ends at 6:00pm.

Full day campers should arrive at camp around 9:00am so they do not miss karate classes or other activities that start at 9:30am.

Karate instruction will take place daily from 9:30am-11:00am.  Afternoon karate sessions times may vary depending on the week.

If your child is not picked up by 3:15pm, a flat fee of $15 will be a charged for extended care for that day only. This fee will be automatically billed and you will receive an electronic invoice.  No checks are accepted.

EARLY DROP-OFFS - Students who arrive prior to 8:50am will be charged the full $15 fee for before care each day this occurs.

 

PRIVATE LESSONS

Location:  All private lessons will be conducted on-site at the summer camp during the camp day.  

Tuition:  $45 rate for 30min session

Basic Information:  times will vary based on the directors schedule.  Students who take part in the private lessons will be trained privately in a 1 on 1 setting.  Private lessons will only be taught outside of the regular group instruction times.  This is a special add-on (optional) service that parents must register for separately.  Space is extremely limited and lessons must be reserved in advance through our online booking system.  You will *not* be billed when you reserve your private lesson.  A separate invoice will be sent to your email address after the lesson has been completed.

*There is a $15 fee per field trip that will be collected on-site at camp on the week of the field trip for each camper to cover admission fees, special on site events, etc.  This fee is in addition to the regular weekly tuition for camp & is not included in the online registration.  

 

Belt Exam Dates:

Students are eligible to receive stripes on weeks when there is no belt exam scheduled, though it is not guaranteed.  If a belt exam is scheduled during the week that a camper is attending camp this is *not* an automatic guarantee that the student will test and receive a new belt. Students must meet testing guidelines as posted in the student handbook AND must be invited by their instructor to test.

Lunches & Snacks

Campers will provide their own lunches & beverages

All lunches should be in coolers to prevent food from spoiling

Please Note:  We do not order food, heat up food or provide utensils for campers.

Due to severe food allergies, we ask that NO PEANUT BUTTER or NUT PRODUCTS be brought to camp in lunches

The MD / DC camp site where the camp is hosted (Tifereth Israel Synagogue) has asked that no meat, shellfish, or pork be brought to camp in observance of their rules inside the building.  Campers eat outside on Tuesdays and Fridays so the food mentioned above is allowed on these two days.  The VA camp site does not have this food restriction.

 

Swimming – MD / DC Camp

Equipment Orders

All equipment orders must be placed online.  All sparring equipment and uniform orders will be sent directly to your house.  Please allow 2-3 business days for orders to arrive.

 

I love camp! Can I add another week? How much does it cost?

Yes, you can add as many weeks as we have available.

Summer Camp Policies

Tuition Payment

  • Tuition for any week of summer camp must be paid in full prior to attending camp.
  • All registration must be completed online.
  • NO CHECKS are accepted.  All payments must be made online with credit cards during the registration process.
  • NO drop-ins are available.  Students must pre-register for each week of camp prior to the start of the week.
  • Multiple week tuition discount only applies during initial registration. No reduced rate will be provided after the first registration.

Illness & Make-ups

  • If a camper misses camp for more than 2 consecutive days due to illness then credit will be given for the days missed after the first two days when requested in writing and accompanied by a doctor's note.
  • If a student misses camp for any reason besides illness they can make-up the day IF there is space in another week of camp.  Parents must submit an email request to camp office to get approval.  If there is no space then there will be no make-ups permitted and credit cannot be transferred to school year programs (the credit is lost).

Canceling a week

  • December 1 - May 15:  $20 administrative fee per camper per week canceled
  • May 16 - June 10:  Only 50% of registration fees will be credited for any Kaizen Fitness program.  The other 50% is non-refundable / no credit will be awarded.
  • After June 11:  There will be NO refunds or credits for summer camp weeks after June 11.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

CANCELING A DAY

  • Refunds or credits for single days of summer camp will not be provided at any time.  Summer camp registrations are paid for on a weekly tuition fee schedule not a daily tuition fee schedule.

Canceling entire summer registration (multiple weeks)

  • December 1 - May 15:  All fees paid are refunded except $100 deposit and $25 administrative fee.
  • May 16 - June 10:  50% of total tuition will be refunded.  The other 50% is non-refundable.
  • After June 11:  There will be NO refunds or credits for summer camp weeks after June 11.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Switching Weeks

  • Switching between weeks is allowed, based on availability.
  • If a camper needs to switch weeks and there is no availability then they must either keep their assigned weeks OR they can follow the cancellation policy listed above to cancel weeks based on dates (eg. After June 11 there are no refunds or credits for a camper who wants to switch weeks but there is no availability).

ADDING WEEKS

  • ALL students who register prior to March 31st, 2017 will receive FREE Before & After Care.
  • Offer valid only for weeks purchased during the promotional period.
  • Any additional weeks purchased / added to existing reservations after the promotional period (3/31/17) will *not* be eligible for FREE before & after care.
